hi hope all are well

i would to care for a fish that grows about 20cm, lives in the top levels of the tank and looks a lot like a gar. i have been researching and all the gars i can find are huge! it must be able to live in a 50USG aquarium for life or 85% of its life.

thanks, i hope such a fish exists!

What about a Boulengerella maculata (Spotted Pike Characin/Mosaic Gar)??

They will get about 8-10 on average, sometimes up to 12" but they don't have a super-fast growth rate like the true gars. Depending on the dimensions of the tank, you would be able to keep one of these guys for a while in there.

I hope this helps.

Might try Luciocephalus pulcher.

Matt
