Hello--

I am looking for a catalog type book of Lake Malawi cichlids. I would like to be able to look at the pictures and say, that is a good looking fish, and then read a little about it's habitat, aquarium requirements, etc. and decide if that would be a good fish for my tank.

I don't need the text to be overly detailed because if I see a fish I want, I can do the research online, etc. At the same time, I don't want to spend a ton of money on the book just because the pictures are so awesome. I would prefer photos to sketches though.

A tall order to fill, I know, but I'm looking at Amazon and B&N and some seem to be a little more "owners manuals" than what I want. Ad Koenig (sp?) has some that look good--in the wild, but even he has several to choose from.

Hey thanks!

If I was to recommend just one Malawi book, it would be Ad Konings'. I have "Malawi Cichlids In Their Natural Habitat" 3rd edition and its great for both pics and write-ups! I believe there is now a 4th edition. It's like a $60 book but I feel it's well worth it. I have many others, but for a good balance this is the book to have.IMHO Johnathan:D

I saw that one and I was impressed with what little I saw also. I appreciate the recommendation.

I finally found a fish dealer that will order what I want, and how many I want, so now I need to know, what I want!:nilly:

I got the book and am reading it. I'm forcing myself not to look ahead at all the pictures! Wow, am I learning a lot. I'm learning how little I know about where my fish are from. I might know their scientific name and sp. but unless I know which part of the lake they came from, there can be a real huge difference.

thanks again for the recommend
