Can you seal a but joint ????

three sided plywood box with a front viewing window. can that viewing window be made with two panes butted together and sealed with silicon, would the support from the top and bottom be enough? or would i have to brace the joint with wood??

It can be done. I've seen it done on a few aquariums.

Wood flexes a lot man... I would brace the joint for sure.

i have seen it done also but just wondering if a DIY butt joint would hold up very well or not.
