This fish is about 4.25". It refuses to eat pellets and i have had it for about 1.5 months. and his pins are a little ripped.

it looks a lil stressed. what else do you have with it. if i was to sex with this pic i would say female. i wouldnt worry too much about the pellets. try some peas, brine shrimp, blood worms once in awhile. mine liked algea wafers too. you can either try the starve method or try feeding other foods then re-introducing pellets once she is eating comfortably.

im thinking female...

the forehead looks male-ish but its fins look female. the long tapered body would also in most cases indicate a male. however, it looks WAY stressed out, and beaten. what do you have the poor fish in with? if you make him/her happier, it should show you ALOT more color. no offense, but that is possibly the least color i have seen on a goldsaum

Female 100% I have a pair myself and the females have a dark blue spot in their gill plates, and generally have a very dark black spot on their sides which yours has as well.

oh, very nice of you to ask..... Well first i hang the old worm out there.....yeah they usually go for it....... then i jerk it around a little.... make em' fight for it................ and then they just lay back and accept it..

and thats how i sex a fish:naughty::naughty::naughty::naughty:

I realize the fish does look stressed. It is however the top fish in the tank. Very feisty and comes to the front when i come to the tank. He eats earthworms, krill, mysis shrimp, and silversides, but it is dark from when i got it, i got it specifically for that reason, i liked it being dark and in the tank i got it from it was the dominant fish. I would have to agree with female, i just wanted other input. thankyou.
