I think my Pink Con (that i thought was male) is breeding with my Red Devil, could you tell me what sex you think it is please?

It looks very fat and egg bound in the last day or 2

My Red Devil is chasing it alot and spending the rest of its time digging a large pit in the middle of the tank

Can you tell me why? the thing that threw me off was the slight nuchal hump and the fact the other 3 Pink Cons i had (gave them away) looked identical with the white and orange.

Also does what i explained sound like breeding behaviour (the chasing and pit digging)

and what do Red Devils x Pink Cons look like?

Female convicts have an orangish/pinkish belly. The boys don't have that color blotch.

there you go^ the fish in question also has an abnormally large orange patch

like I said every pink con (5 in total) i have owned has had that patch, i think its a colour morph or coincidence that i had all females.

My black con females i have had had the orange belly, and none on the males so i do know what you mean.

So will this make mini pink Devils then? or will the fry be striped?

I would assume the babies would be on the pinkish side. Maybe a pinky-orange with some white patterns. Edit: I've had a male pink convict before, and they definitely don't have the blotch. So, you coincidentally had all girls it seems.

sounds like you had all females then ;)
unfortunately I don't know very much about hybrids so I can't help you there

in my experience depending on age, most male convict males have extended dorsal and pectoral fins.
