So I added 2 more cichlids to the 80 gallon today. I was at my Lfs last week and all the fish looked pretty sickly except for the baby dempsey tank. Their was 1 fish that ruled all of these and they employee assured me it was a dempsey. I said whatever man, I know its a carpintis maybe a hybrid and he just continued to say maybee it has a ebjd gene. I can tell its a hybrid dempsey or a different specie of carpintis. Well i finally got them out of quarintine and put them in. I just wanted your opinion. My friend gave me a carpintis fry that looks nothing like the one i have picked up last week. I also grabed this pink guy because he had some pretty gnarly teeth. Hes S/a but i cant seem to uncover what kind of fish it is. I know it starts with an "F" haha. Thats all i can say about him. Pretty mild mannored, loves the bloodworms haha.

No im pretty sure he is S/A but a odd specie. It was in with the chocolates and it resembles them alot. I know this sounds dumb, but it was spelled something like fedampolous or something.

the one looks like a true texas (cyano) to me, not sure about the other one, colors look like a red devil or something but the body shape kind of looks like some kind of african cichlid...can you get more pics of it, and how big is it?

Paratheraps fenestratus "pink" in the first photo.

Second one could be carpinits, cyano, or a mutt. No way to tell definitely from the photos.

Yeah im sure its the spotted type carpintis. Not sure on the scientific. I also have one that has the blotchy blue pattern escondido.
This pink guy has got me puzzled though. His body and mouth say S/A, but the enlongated body say african. He has the midas coloring as well. Hes a little over 3in. There was about 4 of these in the tank with the chocolate cichlids. They are very peaceful. Hope he knows how to use them teeth ;)

Ahhhh good call Modest_man. Thank you very much for the ID. Now if i can get this little guy to look like some of the Paratheraps Fenestratus's that come up on google images i will be very happy. Hopefully "she" will color up a little more with age. Thanks guys. I will come back with more pictures once these guys start to mature. Cheers :D
