Personally I'd just give him an eye patch and change his name to 'Fish Plissken'.
Yeah it is in a way, and sorry to joke about your fish, but at the same time I'd bet he can live an otherwise pretty normal life, I've seen others on MFK with similar situations and their fish were usually thriving as well as others.
