With Electric Blue Jack Fry you can separate them from regular looking fry @ around 3 to 4 weeks from hatching. Some may be able to sooner. If your speaking of blue gene carrying jack's they all look like normal jd's. So to answer your question you can most certainly tell the difference between a regular and an electric blue @ 1 1/2".

thedarkone my electric blue dempsey looks just like this one in your picture, it about the same size also. At what size can you determine whether it is a male or female, and how can you tell?

I'm not sure. I have no clue how to sex ebjds. Mine is about 2.5" now and very dark blue. I will have to take some new pics to post.
