I just got off the phone with the pool guy and I was looking into pool filter sand, like many sugested. The guy there of course didn't think it would work and may kill the fish. But he has 20 Grade Pool filter Silica sand. Will this work or is it too fine of a grade and will get kicked up all the time?

I don't think it's recommended for rays, silica is apparently too sharp. For other fish, I think it's fine. PM Rallysman.

Did he give you an option of any other grades?, cause that's (20 grade) the average that most filter manu. spec. out...

Thanks guys, no rays are going in the tank, but a Bichir is. I ended up getting 50lbs since it was so cheap and did a test on my 10gal. I did rinse it first too. But now that 10Gal looks like a milk shake. Glad I didn't dump it into the 90. After 24hrs

I thought if the filter sand was "rinsed" it wouldnt cloud the tank? Or did I get a bum brand of sand?
