I know that newspaper/paper towels are the best, but they look awful (in my opinion).

Next is tile...but again I don't like the look.

Is linoleum safe? I can get it int he exact color I want to match my tank's theme....

New linoleum has been found to cause respiratory problems due to the plasticizers incorporated to make the material workable. These include formaldehyde, benzine, toluene and other chemicals.
Using new linoleum in a cage may be doable provided there's sufficient ventilation. However, using this material in an aquarium will mean that the reptile must remain in a steady concentration of any chemical vapors.

ya like oddball said the heat from the lights will cause toxic vapors to rise off of the tile. i would just use sand if i where you or cage carpet. also if you use tile, make sure it has plenty of texture
