Well an amazing opportunity has come up for me where I have a chance to get my dream pup from a breeder I have been in contact with regarding cane corsos
basically its the last pup and she knows that I have been interested in this pup from its birth and now that shes 3 months shed like to adopt her out to me

now I am kind of confused as far as training goes
I like to get cuddly with my dogs and every night my beagle goes to sleep under the covers at my feet, so did my pit mix and I dont want things to change
now I keep hearing all of this arguing between alpha dog and just constant positive re enforecement, I dont like the alpha dog stuff and don't think it would be safe putting a potentially huge dog into an alpha roll that plus Ive seen people do it and they look like morons
but what I also hear from both parties is that they shouldnt be aloud on furniture or my bed or anything like that which again like stated I enjoy watching tv with my pups

now another question is how do I integrate the new pup with my existing dog
a beagle mix about 30lbs and 8 years old
with our last dog we just introduced them on neutral grounds and everything was wine, but that dog was 1.5 yrs and this pup is a lot younger so he may be a lot more annoying to my beagle, but at the same time she may not challenge her due to size

sorry for the novel, i could ask more but I will start with this
thanks

First things first. Young pups are protected ( a smell they exhale ) from older dogs.
Just take the pup home and introduce it. Do not cuddle it nor make anything that might make the other ones envious.

If the pup was with its mother it will be socialized, meaning it knows how to interact with older dogs. As long as you don't interfere, you should be allright.

thanks miguel have you ever had a corso? and do you still have any mastiffs, I seem to recall you having some bordouex (sp?)

Cane Corso is an alpha breed, whether you like it or not. This means that it will ( it is his instinct ) try to gain control over the pack ( you and yours included ).

This in itself is normal and you should like that the dog is in accordance with his nature.

Treat it like a dog. It needs to know who is the bos, and what is allowed and not allowed.

Do not let him into the couch if you are afraid of getting him out of the couch. I see a lot of stories where the dog was given leeway, and then did not want to cede the couch ,and growled. Then it was the dog that was mean.

No. It is the owner who is unsuited for an alpha dog.

If you have children, teach them not to play with the pup on their knees, at the dogs height and eyel level. You do not want the dog to think that they are ( weaker ) pups.

If you know what you do, you are in for a marvellous experience, for a wonderfull companion, who will guard you and gladly give its life in your defense.

Yes.

And BX, and Neapolitans.

And a couple of other, big, alpha, stuff.

Enjoy! Nothing beats a Molosser!

thanks man!
yea they are quite the dog, fell in love with my first molosser a few years ago with an american bulldog then when I found the corsos in a magazine I fell in love, after losing my pit mix this summer I feel the need to fill the gap

Im not scared of dogs or to be bitten, Ive been chased, charged and snapped at but it never ended badly, so I won't feel bad to push a dog off a couch lol
Im also arranging for puppy classes if I do get her

Enjoy her and show us some pix....

This one lived with me for 15 years, A warrior Queen, she was. Protected 2 of my boys from a herd of wild cattle, once, all by herself.

I miss her like I miss few things....

she is gorgeous, it is certainly amazing how much one can love their dog, I still get upset thinking about my pit and he wasn't even technically my dog, but as far as care goes I was his owner and he was my friend not to mention my beagles bud, sher hasn't been the same since
