Canister filter nut is stuck on input and output help?

So today to got the aquatop CF500-UV and I was setting it up and the tubes were to long after I set it up so I cut the hose down by the input and output so I could move the filter out so i could unscrew it and take the hose off and when i went to do that it's stuck I don't know if anyone out there had the same problem as me and knows an easy fix I'm trying not to use pliers because its made out of cheap plastic. Thanks.

Soak in very hot water(near boiling) for a few minutes will expand and soften the hose making insertion and removal effortless
