Hi, i have a 4'/180L tank with 15 fish (im not getting anymore!) - 4 corys, 4 gouramis, 2 silver sharks, 1 red shark and a clown loach and 2 little things. I also have 4 snails and a few plants.

I currently own a 200L powerhead (with a sponge), and have 2 corner air-stone driven filters.

I have purchased a 1500 L/hr canister filter which will eventually replace the two corner filters.

I have the powerhead in the centre of the left glass panel 2/3 of the way up. The spray nozzle is pointed slightly down and straight towards the other end of the tank.

With the current setup the water clarity is excellent and the water parameters are pretty good - nitrates are a little higher than i would like. I think this is due to a lack of current on the bottom of the tank; so some fish poo just sits there until i vacumm it.

Where would be the optimal positions for the spray bar (return pipe), and inlet pipe? (remembering i want to stop the crap settling ontop the gravel)
Eg should the inlet pipe be just above the gravel, should the sray bar be above the powerhead pushing water in the same direction?

The tank only has 5mm gap between the surface and the lid, so the spray bar will be below the water level.

(When i install the canister, i'm going to leave the corner filters in for a further month).

Thanks, Matt.

P.S. I don't want to use the powerhead to 'push' water into the canister filter.
