So about 4 weeks ago I acquired a Sun Sun canister for my 35 gallon tank, it's working great and all no leads good quality pipes, housing, intake and outtake but the flow sucked and I couldn't figure out why I keep spending time rearranging the intake and outtake so that there won't be any dead spots but there still were then I was messing around with it today and took the strainer off and then all of a sudden the flow got better and there were no dead spots in the tank the problem is that I don't want my fish to get sucked in or hurt but I also want the better flow. What do I do????? 😫😫😫😫

Canisters push water out of them creating a vacuum which pulls water into the canister. If the intake was affecting the rate in which water entered the canister you would have a lot of microbubbles in your return and eventually the filter would get loud from the air trapped the nsid of it and possibly loose its prime. If none of these situations have occurred then tje perceived change in flow to is an illusion.
