ok for a CA tank is there a filter brand that is known for its quality. Like my main concern is a leak. I don't need a flood seriously..... Is there any brands and mondels out there that people recomend that will highly never flood. I hear fluvals are known for flooding.

Will a canister flood if it hasn't been serviced in a while??? or does it flood just from a broken seal???

I like the Eheim line of canisters. Quiet, ultra-reliable, and excellent filtration. I use two 2217s on my 180 gallon tank.

i have 2 fluval 305's on my 120 and never had any problems.

LOL all different ones ahahah this choice is soooo hard. I just want one that is leak proof lol that is my main concern.

If you want to go cheap go for a Marineland Magnum 350 or a Cascade canister. Eheim are great filters but cost alot so its basically you get what you pay for. Rena Filstar XP3 I heard are really good. AQUAEL UniMax Pro Canister Filters I heard were very effiecient filters as well.

You can drive yourself crazy with all of the nonsence that you 'hear' about one brand of filter or another but in the end canister filters are only as safe and reliable as the person using it...

Any time you remove water from your aquarium....filter it at a remote location...and then return it...you run the risk of having a leak.

Using a better grade or hosing...or as some of us do...PVC plumbing in place of the hoses...can make any of the filters a lot safer.

If you had access to all of the info about the so-called floods and not just what little you 'hear' I'm sure you'd learn that 95% of them or more were caused by not following the instructions...

I have a mag 350, and have had no problems. That said, I believe that if people have experienced (flooding) It was very likely user error, and not caused by faulty design, or construction. If I were in the market for a canister at this moment, this would not be one of the factors i would be focusing on when making my decision....Good luck with your search.
