EHEIM 1200 XL Pro 3 VS. FLUVAL FX 6 There are Eheim people and there are Fluval people. Each would swear which is better. Besides looking at the specs on each -- flow rate, media capacity , etc , how can we really determine which is better ? The only way I could figure this out would be to set up two same tanks side by side. One with Eheim and one with Fluval. Let the tanks cycle with the same amount of fish. See which filter cycles faster and see which filter out performs the other. Besides from this there are two more important factors. #1 What type of media was used ? and #2 Long term Bio establishment and all around performance. I am curious on any options and experiences on which filter is better. ------

I had an fx6 swapped it out for a 2262 which i liked much better. More flow easier to clean (hate the trays in the fx) , no bypass.

Down side is it costs more and uses more electricity

I think another consideration would be the cost of replacement parts, here in Aus an impeller for an FX6 is about $120 and a replacement motor $300 which I find quite expensive.
Also I think reliability is a big factor something that is difficult to compare with brands.
I suppose we are all one bad experience away from changing our minds.
