Canister intake

I have two xl canister filters with a 6' spray bar return, spanning the whole length of the tank. I was wondering if i could make a 4'-6' intake bar and run it along the bottom of the tank. With a canister filter hooked up to both ends of the intake, or two 2-3' intake bars one for each canister. Would this be more effective than just two normal "stock" intakes.

I don't think it would be more effective than a normal intake. Don't think it would be less either other than being more time and effort for no return.
