Anyone been using Bio Home plus Media. I have some in a Eheim but I also like the Eheim Substrate round media. I know that the Bio Home media sucks up water quickly,but I am not so sure this test shows how good this media really is. It seems using the bio home plus does not shorten the nitrogen cycle at all. I would appreciate all options on this and using other media as well. Thanks so much MFK members. I think this is a very important topic as it is the life support of your tank.
 
I am interested in getting some as it has great reviews around the interwebs, but it also has a nice price tag it coming from the UK and all. My sumps are full of media right now and I won't be putting up a new tank for a minute.
 
I responded to the thread you made in the 'general aquarium discussion' forum, but I'll respond here as well. I have 4 kilos of biohome, along with a bunch of Sera Siporax and Cermedia Marine pure media in my sump of my 150. Before I set up the 150, I had a Marineland C-360 on a 120 with all four trays filled with Biohome. Had a Sunsun prefilter for mechanical filtration, and had a ball valve on the return line to slow the flow down to about 100 gph. I still saw no noticeable difference in nitrates after several months. Personally, I feel cheaper media will suffice. This current media replaced cheaper ceramic rings, and I've seen no difference. Just by looks and no scientific evidence, out of the three medias I have, I'd probably buy the Marine Pure again before the other two.
 
I did not get a lot of responses in the other forum, so I thought I put this topic in the wrong forum. I read what you had to say and thank you for a response. However , I expected a lot more responses from different people with there opinions and experiences. This Bio Home plus Media is on the newer side and I would hate to rely all my live stock on it unless I get more pros then cons. I hope you understand why I did this as I did not mean to offend you.
