I am looking to buy a external filter on E-bay. One is an Eheim Prof. II 2028 canister and the other is an Eheim Prof. Wet/Dry 2227 unit. They are both about the same price. I have only had HOB filters before and not sure which would be better. I do not know the difference between a canister and a wet/dry canister filter. I will be putting it on my 90 gal tank along with my AC110 HOB filter. Any advice on which one is better??
Thanks
Amanda

I have a 2028 (along with 4 other eheims) and its a great filter. I havent heard anything about the 2227 though. I know it retails for more money, so if its just a little more i would go ahead and try the 2227. I'm a fan of the eheim's quality, so you can't really go wrong with it. Happy bidding ;)

maybe my post is a bit late.. the 2227 is perfect for bio filtration only. do not expect any mechanical/ chemical filtration from it. you have to fill it with ehfisubstrat to work best otherwise you would have a piece of crap. the 2026 is a normal canister that can do bio mech and chemical filtration. if you have enough bio filtration ie ammonia nitrate/ nitrate are ok then go for the 2026, since it will help to polish up the water from any floaties you may have.

Pro 2 filters are very good. The 2227 is something of a pain in how it works. I personally would go witht he pro 2.
