I have a diatom, silicate whatever going on in my tap water..brown algae that WILL not go away..
I run 2 canisters, one at each end of the tank, behind the doors of my stand. Space is at a premium.
My thought is to "T" into each canisters output line put in control valve, then a UV on one end and a phosphate reactor on the other. Then a ball valve on the outputs of the additions(for service) and "T" back into the canisters line going to the tank.
Anyone see a problem I am not seeing??
Thanx

I had the issue in my 55 gallon and bought 2 common plecos for the sole purpose of cleanup. They took care of it all within 2 weeks, I took them back to the store, and the tank has been clean since. Maybe luck? What part of Florida are you in? Maybe it's the same water issues in the NWpanhandle?

Thanx for the comeback Aquadi, from the Treasure Coast..
I want to go after what is causing the problem, been looking on other fourms as well, and find this to be a real hit-n-miss kind of thing.
That brown gunk just really gets on my nerves.

I don't see an issue with your setup and was thinking of doing something similar with one of my tanks (except replace the phosphate thing with a CO2 reactor). I'm no expert though.

I will say that when I first set up my planted tank I had a big brown algae issue that lasted for over a month. It'd be muddy water during the daytime hours (and cleared up at night). I put 3 small BN plecos in there and did the biggest WC I could, like 80+% and the next day the tank was spotless and stayed that way. It was incredible. I still have the plecos too. They're not so small anymore.

(Now instead of brown algae I just get green spot or black beard on the plants. Pressurized CO2 will eventually get set up I guess, though I've probably already ruined the plants that are in there.)
