Incase I put my eheim 2217 rainbar in my sump does it continue the siphon if the power has been shutoff?

However I cannot perform testing because my tank bottom was recently replaced so I am still waiting for a couple more days to cure the silicone before I can test.

Thanks

It should not unless you have leaking canister o-rings, fittings or hoses. The filter may not operate properly though if you don't have the required distance between the water level in the sump and the filter base. Eheim specs recommend a minimum of 19.75".

@deeda, Oh I am talking about the return hose. Does the return hose really need to have a distance aswell? Aint there's a motor the pushes the water through it? :)

Are you planning on running the canister this way or is it only temporary until your tank is repaired?

I am planning to run the canister this way so less pipes inside the tank. Since I am gonna use 2 2217 on my 220 gal with 50 gal sump. So this way only 2 inlet pipe will be shown on the tank.

After looking at pics of your 220G with sump setup, I would not have the two 2217 intakes in the main tank & the two outputs/rain-bars in the sump.
First, I would be concerned in the event of a failure of the return pump in the sump since that pump would be returning the sump water to the main tank.
Second, I am not sure the 2217 filters will operate properly installed that way. I have no evidence that it won't but I wouldn't be comfortable trying it.

It may be helpful to post some pics of the tank, stand, and sump in this thread, as well as the dimensions of them, to get some additional opinions on this. Hopefully, someone else may have some suggestions.

oh right you have a point in the sump pump failure. I wouldn't gamble the water on the floor hehe..

I am just thinking of this way though since I need to buy a much longer hose for it to support. :)

Thanks a lot

I am still interested in the distance from the 220G tank's rim to the floor. Your tank is 6' L x 2.5' x 2' but I'm not sure which is the height and which is the width.

There is also a maximum height the 2217 filter can pump water without seeing a reduction in flow. I'm not sure of this distance, as I have not been able to find that spec.

You may be able to build a platform for the 2217's to sit on, inside your stand or on the floor, so you wouldn't need to buy additional hose. This would also decrease the distance between the tank's water level & the filter base and the filters should meet the installation requirements.

Any chance of posting pics of the tank top/bracing to get an idea of how to run the spray bars over the rim?
