I have used the FLUVAL series class since the early 1990's..........I recently switched to the RENA XP models..........Try the XP4...........Buying two of these will cost less then $200-220, the equilvalant to buying one FLUVAL FX5........Having more filters is strategically better off for the owner than having one expensive one...........

i personaly didnt like the xp filters. I just had constant issues with my xp3 then the houseing cracked leaked everywhere

I would have to agree with Importracer. I really like the Rena XP series and would suggest getting XP3's. Cheaper than the 4's and the only difference is 1 less basket and a little less GPH, but hey, you will have 2 XP3's instead of 1 XP4 so the little less GPH of the XP3 won't matter. I also have an FX5 and i like the automatic shutoff to get air out of the system but for the price I would prefer 2 XP3's.

Is there a particular reason you want lots of gallons in a canister? The bigger the can the harder it is on your back to lift it out of the stand to clean.

I would have to agree.....Two Xp3's are greater than one Xp4.Why because having spare filters concstantly operating allows the individual aqaurist to have a secrured feeling that there is a filter read for any upcoming aqauriums...........ALso, if a pair breeds unexpectedly, then you can easily put the extra canister on a small tank and raise the fry in it...............
