Canister U/V metling deteriorating media

Just a heads up guys/gals...

I myself am and have been a sunsun/Aquatop user(pretty good filters in my opinion for the money, I have 3), but I've never used the U/V function continuously nor do I recommend it.

That said, I just wanted to let all of you whom do use the U/V feature continuously know:

This is a good illustration of UV dosage. UV dosage is highest near the bulb. The bulb sits near the upper half of the filter. Top trays are adjacent to the bulb while lower trays are not.
Clearly the materials in this filter are not UV stable (resistant). Stay away from UV units with plastic chamber.
Very good learning video. At least you know the UV works. I would think about retrofitting the trays with PVC pipe.
