I have been considering my options on this tank, I'd like some opinions or ideas. I have a double stacked 75g setup, right now running with HOB filters I already had. I was considering adding a canister as well, a Rena XP4. The top tank of course would be fine with the canister, but the bottom tank only sits about 3 inches above the ground on the bottom. So the canister of course says if the flow is weak you should make sure the canister is located "x" amount of inches under the surface of the water. I can't raise the tank or stand, it's not possible, so do I have any options using a canister on that tank or should I just invest in two AC110's for it instead? Or recommend another HOB besides Aqueon or Emperor 400 (I use those already). Looking for something quiet as it's in the livingroom where we watch tv.

Yes the xp4 has a min gap of 24" from the top of the water line! I have one and it needs it for proper siphoning and preasure. In a canister the impeller only sucks the water out, the intake naturally siphons and flows water up through 4 chamber baskets. Maybe run the ac110 on the lower and the rena on the top?

Trust me ever since i got my xp4 i have loved every minute. So quiet and efficient and perfect. Just a good feeling of security knowing its filtering my tank, along with ac110 and 9wattuvc.

That's what I figured I would have to do. I was considering running a canister on both mainly because I prefer things to match. I was even considering running the bottom tanks canister using a powerhead to push the water into the filter, but I just don't have the time or patience to mess with it.

I'm limited to a bit of tax return money for a new filter setup - I really like my old Emperor 400 filters with the adjustable flow, but finding the old ones can be difficult here, and I don't want the new ones. I have never used any of the AC filters, but heard good things.

So - do I go with the AC 110 on each tank or what are some recommendations? Give me all ideas even if they cost more, I need to think this over more. Thanks.
