:nilly: Hi new member, hello to all

I am setting up a 220 oscar tank size new to me am considering between fluval FX5 or ehimen + UV filters, I dont have the room for a sump or ocean clear type system. have noticed limitations for both like

fluval noisy, uses too much power

Ehimen quirky parts can break and be hard to find

opinions appreciated or if there is a better filtratioon set up I would be thankful.

I personally think the fx5's are great value for money. The eheims are great too but WAY overpriced (in OZ anyway) for justification. JMO

What?

Fluvals are very quiet. My 304 uses about 20 watts of power. My Fx5 uses just over 50 watts for 600 GPH! Not bad AT ALL! That is 12 Gph/Watt. It is also very quiet.

An Eheim 2262 is around 500-700 GPH. I am going to go with 600 GPH. Because it uses an inefficient impeller, it requires more energy to move the same amount of water. 2262 uses about 80 watts of power or 7.5 Gph/watt

If you are looking for a single canister. A 2262 will do fine for you if you can afford it.

That's why i had in brackets "in OZ anyway". I have seen an LFS over here sell the fx5 for under $300, and the eheim a ridiculously higher price. I'm only assuming it is similar in most other countries but def feel free to correct me if i'm wrong!!
