I was wondering how much filtration willbe affed=ced by adding media to the cannister I was looking at marineland and eheim filters for a 90 gallon tank

are you running a FOWLR??
if so you'll be better off.
if a reef tank you should loose the canister filter for sure..
I would only use one the "scrub" the water with some carbon for a few days or something like that..
they are nitrate factories unless cleaned weekly.

I will be having a reef tank. I have a 75 gallon with a ac110 should I just get two for the 90 gallon?

I use 2x AC110's and a HOB skimmer for my 90g FOWLR and it works great....I would deff get HOB's over a canister just because they are super easy to keep clean. Esp if you plan on keeping a messy eater it's just too easy to pull the sponge out give it a good thrashing in a bucket of water and your good to go.

I have kept FOWLR and reef with HOB and with canisters. I think that the nitrate factor is overplayed if you stock appropriately, choose the right media, and take care of your filter.

That being said, dont buy a marineland. Their products have gone down the crapper in the last four years. Do yourself a huge favor and buy an eheim. You could never be happier. I have a classic and love it.
