Th Chicago news mentioned the time but too dumb to point out it was a record. Couldn't imagine ripping across the entire country going that fast for that long.
I once(in the 90's) went from Austin city limits to Forth Worth city limits in 1 hour 56 minutes. My average speed came out to 89 mph. Here's the icing on that cake. It was in a 1991 Ford Ranger (4 banger). I forgot the exact miles.
A few years back a buddy of mine and I did it in 38:07h driving (i.e. engine running) time. Stopped twice overnight, though, to rest. Followed a cop car in NM without knowing it. Good times. Cannot imagine shaving another 9 h off ...
