Hello fish lovers, I am in serious need of advice. My friend bought 2 discus off kijiji despite the knowledge they were sick in some way. He gave them a week to recover and gave them to me in attempt to restore them to good health. Currently I have them in my Marina Hang On Breeding tank to isolate them from my other fish and maintain perfect water parameters (80F, 0 Amm, 0 Nit). I think they have a bad case of swim bladder, but I want another opinion. Here are the treatments I have currently tried... raising temperature 90F for 4 days.. Epson Salt bath.. Maracyn 2 poweder.. And changing water depths to exercise the swim bladder. Only thing I really haven't tried (scared to) is a needle to the swim bladder itself (fizzing). Honestly I don't even know where it is. Anyways, I should mention that they are still eating as well as they can despite being stuck on their side at the bottom of the tank. They sometimes swim around, but struggle and then plop back down again to their side. If anyone has a better treatment, or an idea of what this may be, let me know. Also want to know if my other fish are at risk with the water cycling through the hang on tank. ALL POSTS ARE APPRECIATED, even criticisms and warnings.

Are the fish eating anything at all? If so, then instead what you should do is crush about 1/8 teaspoon of epsom salt per 4 oz of food and feed that directly to the fish rather than just as a bath. Epsom salt fed directly is a natural laxative and may do the trick if they are not too far gone already.

Fish are showing some progress, within 2 days of attempting your treatment :)

Good to hear it. Kimberly gave you good advice. Good luck and keep us posted I hope they pull through.
