Hey MFK!

Alright here is my problem I am ignorant when it comes to cameras. I am trying to buy a camera for the first time (not counting the camera on my phone) and I don't know what to buy! The camera will be used mostly for my off roading trips, fishing, hunting, camping, rodeos, my tanks, and stuff like that. I do have the Go Pro so I ain't looking for anything like that. I am looking to spend up to $500. I was looking on here for some ideas but too many damn cameras folks use. From reading posts and looking at some pictures on here looks like the top brands are Canon and Nikon. What would ya'll recommend me getting that will take good, clean pictures and will take care my needs around the price I want to spend?

Thanks ya'll.

Either brand will take great pics. Kinda what you prefer between the two. I like Nikon, but some of my friends swear by Canon's and make a living using them.

Love my D7000. Something like the 3200 would run around $500

Thanks will look into the 3200 and check out the D7000..... Beautiful festae in your avatar!

How about the Canon EOS Rebel T3 any of ya'll have this and what ya'll think about it?

considering your interests, compare moisture/dust sealing in reviews. you'd probably want higher usable shutter speed & ISOs.

fyi, many Canon lenses weigh more than equal nikon lenses. but people often start with one name brand lens & some affordable non-name brand lens.

Thanks for the info will keep that in mind.

If I was you I will get a good small point and shoot. I have been using a Olympus stylus for about 7 years and like it a lot. I have dropped it down the side of a mountain, lost it in the Jordan river for about an hour, took it into the dead sea, snowboarding and many other outdoor activities. The only thing wrong with the camera is the pictures on the selection wheel faded so I have to look at the screen, which I did anyway. This camera is old I am sure the newer versions are much better.

I also have a canon rebel for about 3 years and I used it about 5 times. It is just to inconvenient to carry around. Imagine shooting waterfowl with that thing around your neck.

Thanks for the feedback. I just checked out the Olympus Stylus looks like a small cool camera something that can probably with stand the hell ill put it through. Seems like it has been holding up the torture it went through from what you have said. Would keep this one on my list also.
