I just picked up a 180 gallon tank yesterday. It was previously used for saltwater. The guy hand made an oak canopy and it holds the lighting. This is going to be a big pain when its time to do water changes right? I won't be able to take it off myself.
Lighting-there is alot of lights that he gave me. 4-48" VOH Blue and White Actinic bulbs connected to an Ice Cap 660 balast on plywood. He gave me 2 different sets of compact florescents Blue and White Actinc bulbs again.
I would like to use the 4 bulb system if possible. Those bulbs are 110 watts a piece. Question-Would I be able to go down to 40 watt daylight bulbs? The ballast won't overpower them right?
If I don't use the canopy I will sell it with the lights and get a double tube strip light. Its a cool lighting system though. He paid $1000 for it at the lfs.
