ok so i am one of the first ones done in my wood shop class here at school and he opened up a suggestion to me to make anything i want as long as i have a plan setting. so here's where you come in, i need some ideas for wood and over all an orthographic projection of the said plan. this way i can show him the plan and get the stock in order. stock amount isn't an issue as its a school project. but he wants a plan so i need your help as i haven't the slightest how they work and have no clue how to put one together.

Well, you've got some choices to make, especially in how you want to access the tank. Do you want the front of the canopy to open, the whole top, a section of the top, top + front, or do you want the whole thing to swing up and out of the way? Each has pros and cons.

Just having access through the front, or a small section of the top, is probably the easiest to build, and your access panels won't have to bear much weight. The access panels can also be kept open easily. The disadvantage is the small opening.

Having the whole top (or a large part thereof) gives you more access, but also requires you to lift the lights along with the panel. You may need some additional hardware to help support that weight.

Swinging the whole canopy about requires some sort of structure supporting the canopy's weight; it's essentially a suspended canopy that sits on the tank when at rest. It will be the most complex build, but also the most impressive, and gives maximum access.

im looking for something to back-up or replace the glass lids, major access is not a necessity, all it would be for would be to either use the net or python, and for feeding. nothing to complex really. im just tired of looking at a messy top i want to move away from glass tops as all my tanks have em'.

my lights are 36" by im not sure, they are just typical run of the mill 125 gallon lights.
