What ideas do you all have? The tank will have 3 acrylic hinged tops and I would like something to cover the lights but also still be able to access the tank for cleaning and feeding.

1800 gallons? I'd build it into the wall and do a decorative trim around the tank.

Im building this tank in my Man Cave in my shop. The spot that I have for it is an exterior wall. I thought about the in wall build but it would have been in my divider wall between my shop and room. I just could not give up the space in my shop.

Hmmm. That does make for a rather awkward build...You're going to want full access to a tank that large, but if you can't work from the back, that'll be a real pain. It's also rather tall, so it complicates things even more. Can you work from the side? How tall is the building?

If you look at my canopy builds, i use 6" pine board and then use a concealed hinge to connect. I dont even bother to put a top on the canopy since it covers 12" above the tank. Howevwr, for a project that big, u should build it in sections so you can take pieces off when.u need max access. Whats the stock?

The room is 20'x40' with 12' tall walls and it has vaulted ceiling to a 16' peak. 12' walls on the 20' sides. The 40' walls vault up from 12' to 16'. This build is on the back 20' wall. I will have access from the front only. Also the front is the only view window and the filters will be through the dividing wall on the shop side.
