I have a new 180 gallon tank with a custom built cabinet and canopy. I am really regretting the canopy. I did not realize it is a big job for one person to remove the canopy because of the combination of weight plus the 6 ft length. It really takes two people, and i live alone Has anyone else run into this ?

Never experienced removing a canopy. Why did you have to remove it?

I also have a canopy on my 180. I have taken it off once by myself while the tank was empty but it wasn't easy...I've had it on since February and have never taken it off, do you need to remove it often?

I don't think it will be often. And I do have a few friends in town to help me if needed. I had a 90 g a few years ago and i don't recall having to lift the canopy.

May I ask what kind of fish you are keeping in your 180 ?
