was trying to find out what live plants were good in a p tank. i wanted to get a few that will give them some good cover and nice hiding places other than the standard swords and whatnot. i'd like to get some canopy type ones but none of the pet stores in my area seem to have any and i don't even know the names of any to ask for.

what types of plants do you guys use in your p tank? anyone have any good recommendations for me? right now i have a 55 gallon with 2 6" rbp's and 1 6.5" pacu.

thanks!

i'm not too sure on types or names but i was in the same situation for my tank and i just went with lilly pads. it's working so far and my ciclids seem to love it! plus they grow flowers if you're into that.

Your pacu will most likely munch any plants you put in but java fern works good with p's . Not too sure what you mean by 'canopy' plant but if you want something to cover the surface try shinnersia. It grows like crazy. This is it in my channa tank it's the light green one growing up the middle and across the surface :)

yeah, that's what i mean. something that grows on the surface of the water providing a canopy cover for the fish. the pacu doesn't seem to munch the plants i have so far. but i think the rbp's would love some more cover.

Definitely don't use plastic underwater fauna... I heard 'someone' did, and their P's kinda would regurg' what they had consumed along w/ their breakfast, lunch, dinner, and other snax...
