IM building a canopy for my 180 to match my stand..It will be made of oak plywood 5/8 inch with oak trim to match stand.Question is how much weight can a tank hold.Im afraid to put in on the top of the tank and have it crack the glass...From the pictures I have seen I guess tanks can hold a lot of weight...

Question is how much weight can a tank hold

A LOT :D

As it's already going to be holding around a ton of water and rocks, a wimpy little wooden top isn't going to make much difference to things.
Just make sure the weight is distributed evenly and it doesn't sit on a couple of pressure points, and dont drop the lid when you are putting it on place.

Cheers
