hey guys, im confused on what to do for filtration for my 75g tank,

should i get a 35g sump for the tank? or just get a Fluval fx5 or fx6?

i dot wanna see any wires only an intake and return, i guess i could get an inline heater for the canister

am i overkilling this? not gonna be heavily stocked just a medium amount

thanks!

Imho a sump is not required on a small tank. The FX5 should be plenty if your bioload is not heavy. I generally prefer to have 2 filters going in case one of them craps out I still got the other until I can fix the problem. On my 55g I am running a 2217 classic and a penguin 280. I'm happy with it, but will be replacing the 280 with an ac110 when I get the chance.

Id go with 2 eheim 2217s over one big canister. Similar cost except the eheim comes loaded with media. Best value imo

If you have the ability and opportunity to make a proper drilled sump, then in my opinion sumps always trump canisters or HOBs because of their flexibility, ease of maintenance and single return pump vs. multiple filters.

Do you mind sharing the future inhabitants? I still prefer sump.

This is why im favoring the sump more, i dont like seeing alot of wires coming out the tank
