The president (my fiancee) approved a stimulus for me to get a 3-D background for my 180. I have 2 fx5 2 aquaclear 110 and 1 xp4. In all the 3D pics I've seen the intakes/outakes are unseen. If the intakes/outakes are BEHIND the background doesn't that cut down water flow? Any info help or pics would be greatly appreciated
 
depending on what you were doing for the background you would just have your pipes run threw it...a little fake cave, or an over hang would easily cover a jet.

Not sure but I would like to get one for my 240 but they are so expensive. And from the looks of it you have wayyyy too much filtration for that 180..........so I will send you my address and money for shipping so you can send me that xp4 and a fx5..

Depending on what your stocklist is I'd have to agree...
I'd lower the filtration down to the 2 FX5's and add a powerhead in the front seeing your losing the electrical usage by removing the 2 AC 110's.
 
I saw that in one of my lfs they used a holesaw to cut a perfect circle out of the background and the return pipe outlet literally just poked out. You could hardly see it as it was a rocky background. I'm not sure whether this is the 'proper' way to do it as they aren't very clued up (had gt's up as Acara's???) but it seemed to do the job.
