Ok so now I have 4 tanks available, a 35G and three 15Gs. They have finished cycling a bout a week ago, I placed three tiger barbs to each of them to keep them running while I am deciding what cichlid to keep in them.

Now, I am decided at keeping Pink Convicts and doing a convict breeding program (sounds silly huh? why would anyone breed convicts?). I decided to do this mainly because of the limitation in the size of my tanks and another reason is that I was inspired by BigSpizz's pink cons posted here:
http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=295901

But there is one problem, as weird as it may sound, I can't find any convict cichlid at any pet store I know here in the Philippines. T_T They were supposed to be very common. ⌐.⌐

So can anyone from the Philippines spare a few pink cons for me?^_^

And oh btw, I would like to ask for opinions to about this matter, is my 4 tanks enough for this project I'm planning to do?

Me personally, I think your tanks are too small for convicts. Mature adult convicts can grow to 4-5inches for some. One time, I had 2 large adult breeding pairs in my 55 gallon and each pair chose a side of the tank while the rest of the convicts were stuck in the middle top of the tank.

One pair of convicts per tank may work for you, but when they breed and you have fry, you might have to cull a lot or when the fry are at a younger age.

I would suggest Sajicas, naos, or other cryptoheros for tanks your size.

Pink cons---yeah. Good ones are hard to find arent they? I still have not found a good looking white/pink pair.

Good luck! I would suggest marbled cons. I got a 75 gallon devoted to my marbles.

Ow, sajica don't grow very big too? I thought they grow as much as the Viejas like the quetzal :P my bad.

I think I saw those for sale here in PH. I will reconsider thanks to your suggestion.
What are naos? i can't find them on google.

Well, this is actually my convict plan:
1. Raise about 2 or 3 males in the 35 (maybe a bad idea?)
2. Raise a female in 1 of the 15
3. Get the dominant and impressive looking male from the 35 and have him breed with the solo female
4. raise the fry in the remaining tanks (or in a large tub or ice box)
5. choose the best looking males from the new generation and sell the rest. except the father
6. buy a female from a different blood line and start over again.

If you were on this side of the world. I would have a ton of them for you.

I have some :) I was always embarrassed of my convict obsession. I was asked by someone on this site if I wanted to give them my prize cons so they could feed their actual monsterfish...I am overwhelmed by the word inspired...I think I just was as well ;)

Yeah you have the best cons I've seen so far. And I would have asked you to give me some of them if I wasn't on the other side of the world.:P

And since I can't have your cons, I decided to raise my own high quality cons. And don't be embarassed about your con obsession. It's that kind of obsession with fishes that drives this hobby and produce such specimens of such quality..;)
