Can't find what I need

I'm in a jam guys.

I've looked all around the country for an LFS that stocks certian breeds of discus and banjo catfish (it's a small island in the Middle East. Google Bahrain) but none of them seem to be able to help me or even know what i'm talking about.

I looked high and low to no avail and the only option I see viable is online shipping. The problem with that is I don't know of any sites that deliver internationally. I did the math when it came to sites such as Pet solutions and live aquaria , but their delivery terms only apply to the United States. So by the time it reaches my US Mailbox , the fastest I can ship it Via DHL to Bahrain is 4 days afterwards -- There is no direct shipping that I know of. by that time the stock will be dead.

Help me out MFK.

Where can i order my fish from internationally?
 
Have you contacted these guys for a list of their livestock? Even if they don't carry what you are looking for, they work with several companies and would probably order in whatever you needed (so long as it was legal).

(Though the don't list an online livestock, it's worth contacting them because even if they don't sell the livestock, they have connections you don't. Sometimes, it's about doing the leg work, and contacting others who have insider knowledge you wouldn't. It's not always as easy as finding exactly what you need on the first try, especially when looking internationally. But check them out and give them a call, and if they can't assist you themselves, I am sure they will know someone to connect you with. I'll look around a bit and see if I can find anything with those fish, but more than likely, you will have to do a special order.)
 
I'll drive down to Aqualife tomorrow , see if they can help me. never knew this place existed. Tropicalfishstore seem to be stocking supplies and tanks , but no fish i could find... Thanks Water Baby. I'll let you know how it goes with Aqualife.

Yea Trop.FishStore is, but my point in linking you to them was because they more than likely have connections to others within the field, and even if they can't help you themselves, they can probably connect you with others who can. And yea, let me know how it goes with Aqualife, and remember, even if they don't carry what you are looking for, they might be willing to special order.
 
:D I went to Aqualife and I bring good news!:D

First , let me just tell you about my experience there. These guys have appearently been around for 25 years (previously know as Bahrain Waterlife) and they are the only Marine stocking LFS on the Island. They had Lionfish and Miniata Groupers, All forms of Angel fish and Triggers. They even Have Coral! (I know this is readily available anywhere else in the world so pardon my gittyness) Anyway, I'm not there for the marine fish BUT i am definetly going Saltwater on my next set up.

I found all forms of Discus !!! Royal Red , Snakeskin , Leopordskin , greens and yellows! so that's one worry out of the way. (PHEW!)

now this isn't what made me decide to switch LFS's. They stock quality aquacare products from the US , Germany , and some parts of Asia. they custom build full systems of any size! Oh and they are the only place that have FROZEN BLOOD WORMS WOOHOO!!

So then , I see a picture of the owner with his name on it. and I thought it sounded familiar -- I remembered where I heard it before ====> I KNOW THIS DUDE'S SON. so i dig through my contacts and find his name I call em up , and the conversation goes more or less like :

Me "DUDE!! YOU RUN AQUALIFE?!"
Him " DUDE!! WE HAVEN'T SPOKEN IN TWO YEARS AND THAT'S THE FIRST THING YOU SAY?"

So long story short we cought up and I'm going to see him tomorrow morning to talk fish (insert victory dance here). Hopefully he can get me my Banjo cats.

Awesome!! Hahaha, that's great it worked out so well for you, they have everything you wanted and more, AND you got to re-connect with an old friend. I'm glad I was able to help, and that everything worked out so great!
