cant gat my filter to pump water help!

i just set up my tank and everything is running great but my filter (cascade- 700) isnt pumping water threw . tryed it all over and over again followed the dierection word for word but still nothing. dose any know what else i cant try please as im starting to get pretty annoyed at it and am ready to smash it... please help

stupid questions:

is everything. . . plugged in?
if it is plugged into a wall outlet, are you sure that if there is a switch for the outlet, it is turned on?
is the motor running at all or completely dead?
if the motor is running but no water is flowing, is the impeller seated correctly?
is the impeller clogged with anything or is it spinning freely?
is there an adustable flow rate? is it on high or obstructed somehow?
did you fill it up with water before turning it on or just expect it to pull water in all by itself?
if you put it on the tank and started it up completely dry it may be burned out right from the start.

These canisters can be a pain in the butt to prime sometimes...especially right out of the box. Fill the intake hose completely then press the prime button over and over until you stop seeing bubbles come out of the return hose in the tank. Plug the canister in and it should start up right away...if not hit the prime button a couple more times.
Put your hand on the top of the canister when you plug it in to make sure the impellers actually turning. (you'll feel a viberation.)

thanx guys!!! just got it running ...the intake line was clogged with a ball of rubber in the hose must have been a defect in the hose it took me a 1/2 hour to get it out with a coat hanger never seen that before pretty weird uh??
