Where the Parachromis roam...
I have a nice Temporalis (real Chocolate)cichlid who is about 5-6" and a beautiful 6-7" gold Severum, these two just cannot get along i really dont want to get rid of one(wich would be the severum)i have taken the severum out of the tank several times, changed the rock work in the tank and even placed the severum back in the tank with the lights out.I am at wits end can anybody give advice or ideas to make this work??Thanks.

if you've tried rearranging and making new territories then there's really not much else you can do. sometimes certain fish just won't get along. the only other thing I could suggest is a larger tank because the reason they are fighting is over territory. :)

Try a clear separator and let them see each other for a couple weeks and hopefully they will simply adjust.
I have heard this works if you have the space.

it happens sometimes . . . and when it does, there is nothing you can do about it

Are there any other fish in the tank?

Have you tried dithers? Altho this idea hasn't really worked for me ime.

My severum didn't stop harassing my chocolate until I put them in a much bigger tank with more severums. ;) Are they the only two larger cichlids in the tank? If so, there's probably not much you can do.

I sadly got rid of my choco bout 6 months ago
Same situation..my male gold sev and the choc just would not get along, no matter what I did. I seperated them, re-arranged, added other fish, dithers, etc...nothing I could do, it went on for months and neither fish was happy..if either got near the middle there would be a brawl...sucked to see two nice fish sitting in corners hating life

A Temporalis(real choco) gets really colorful and the males grow a "Cichlid Hump" when fully grown. There is really a big difference between the 2 fish.
