ive had my tank cycling about 6 weeks now and the ammonia has stayed at 0.25ppm and nitrite started at 0ppm now it's 0.50ppm and nitrate started at 0.20ppm and now it's about 0.80ppm I've added prime and fluval cycle but still doesn't change, could anyone give me some advice ?

need to feed the bacteria. throw some fish food in, or my fave large raw shrimp tail and let it rot. like your fish, the bacteria need something to eat to flourish.

I've had 8 gold fish donated to me last night will they do much to sort it ?

how big is the tank?

they can get it going, over feed them. do not touch your filters. let em run. water changes as needed to keep the water from getting nasty. always dose for size of tank not water replacing.

seems your cycle wants to start, but no nutrients for it to happen. this should get it going. check back in a week.
