For some reason every time i try and vac my sand i cant seem to suck up any poo.... i have done the smallest vac to the lone yard one and cant seem to get it to work... AM I doing something wrong? i also tired just a hose but at 22/bag i dont really wanna suck up sand.... Any idea would be nice.... i can push it all to one side too.... This is why i like BB tanks.

best method to gravel vac sand is to use a hosepipe and hover a couple of cms above the sand, this way the waste will syphon out, the sand will remain...might take a bit of practise but best way to deal with sand ime

How are you creating a siphon? What height is your tank at. What are you siphoning to (i.e. sink, floor drain, outside)?

Well i can trll now im under sized.. 18 inch pipe with three or four feet 1/2 line. Tank is 54" off 30 stand n 24 tank

bumb? i tried using just the tube but sucked out alot of sand...

Try stirring up the sand just a bit then vac the detritus that floats up off it. On a tank that size, a undergravel jet system may be a good idea if that is still feasible for you, if not, a few powerheads near the bottom should still help.

put extra powerheads in for movement, i never have to vacuum my sand....and/or add a bunch of bichir, they'll move it for ya :D

:Dyeah 2 in one day! sorry i'm just promoting my DIY air driven vac. i could go on and on about why i did it and how well it works but it will probably just get blown off.

anyways i don't know how to link(yeah i know i need to learn:() but if you check my NOT PYTHON thread and skip all my rambling;) just build one and try it. if you have the stuff handy it only takes a couple minutes and w/ a little tinkering will save you alot of anguish.

best of luck
