Hi there,

I have a 75G standard tank that I am working on... I have originally wanted(and still) might do Tanganyika cichlids.

75G is too small for Trophs and be too small for any larger predatory monsters =)

Anyways... I was thinking.

How would a Green Terror sound in the 75 Gallon? (2-3yrs) before I move into another place / tank

With that being said, What would make good tank mates for the Green terror?

Eartheaters?
Geophaagus sp? (orange head)
Threadfin Geophagus??
Dovii? (might be mistaken on these)

A GT works well in a 75G.

That with 2 or 3 eartheaters would be fine IMO (ideally one off the smaller species like orange heads). Threadfin acaras (Acarichthys heckelli) are great, and would be fine, but I would only add one, as they can show very high levels of aggression to con-specifics.

Some GT's are just mean though, so a lot would depend on the individual's character.

Dovii get much too big, and too aggresive.

I agree.

Awesome input guys.

Reason for me asking, is some other members have inspired this through their pictures lol.

so, A green Terror for the 'center piece'

and I could have a couple orange heads in the mix?

What else would be good in the tank? *I know I cant do too much with 75g)

I would LOVE to have some cichla(by far my favorite) .. (tems or orinos).. One of these days when I have a garage and can hold a 300g tank.

I think a Gt is a good fit for a 75. As far as other tankmates a school of mollies works I use them currently and are always producing fry, any of the larger tetras work well or some Rainbows are all good additions. I'm basing this on the fact that you will be adding the Orangeheads. Corys could also be added along with a Bushynosed Pleco, Pictus Cat ect.

1x Green terror.
3x Orange heads( 1m 2F)

what about 3-4 of silver dollars (medium)

I need to makeup my mind LOL.

So its a either community Tanganyika tank( 3+Cavlus, 6+Shellies, 10+Cyps, 1 goby)
Or a kick ass green terror.

IMO the Silver Dollars get too big to use as dither for the 75 and will not look right when grown.

As far as your choice goes considering the forum your in you can guess the way that will lean. Africans look nice but the GT will have much more personalty and are more owner responsive and interactive.

Ah yah Ofcourse,

The tank will be in my computer room / office against back wall. More or less the "display" tank of the house.

In living room there is the 38 gallon planted tank.

Ive had Mbuna years ago - it was okay.

What is the growth rate of the GT's? They slow growers(sorry for me being ill-informed) As I do know for a fact the Cavlus will be verrry slow, est 1inch / yr.

IME they don't grow super fast if you started out with a 3" male, provided with good food and water conditions maybe .5+ inch a month up to about 7-8" then they start to slow down. Of course this is only and average, milage may vary.

great information.

You're awesome!:headbang2

Now - Need to verify where I could pick up the Orange heads online.. Everyone i know of are sold out.(need pricing)
