It's been a long wait to pick it up due to the cold weather, snow and ice in the New York City area lately. Me and 6 friends went and picked up this monster tank Super Bowl Sunday, hours before the game. Everything went smoothly until we got the storage facility and realized the tank was 6" to long to fit into the elevator so we had to carry this 10' long 3 foot wide 2 foot high acrylic tank up to the narrow steps to the 2nd floor. After a lot of curses and brainstorming we did it without a bump or scratch. Tank will sit in storage til late spring early summer then I will begin the fun process of setting it up. Will try and have the suction cups for big tanks to make the next move easier. I stopped there last night and took a crappy pic and I've been up all night like a kid on Xmas Eve. I'm still struggling with how I will filter this thing. Everyone's saying a 125-180 gallon sump but have zero experience with them and honestly the concept scares the life out of me. Thought about 4 fx5s but I know I would get flamed lol. But I'm sure it will work itself out

Sweet!

Are those same 6 friends coming back to help you get it out of there? LOL

Great tank. Looking forward to seeing it setup. By the way go with the sump.

Sick!! Can't wait to see it set up and the stock. Do you have any ideas what you'd like to throw in that beast?

As far as filtration goes I'd go with 2 FX6 or 2 Eheim 2262 and a fluidized bed filter. If your paying for electric I'd lean toward the FX6 for the canister due to their lower power consumption. As far as I know fluidized bed filters are the most efficient biological filters out there right now. Uarujoey uses them instead of a sump and I believe Duanes also uses them in his set ups. Fluidized bed filters can be bought ready made or you can DIY and I believe the DIY is simpler for a fluidized bed then a sump. Here's a link to some ready made fluidized bed filters http://www.americanaquariumproducts.com/FluidizedSandFilter.html I wouldn't use sand though as I believe K1 kaldnes would be a more efficient filter media then sand. Though I could be wrong. Hopefully duanes or someone else who uses a fluidized bed will share their experience. I think you'd be good with that set up or you could add a third canister to focus on Mechanical filtration so that water stays crystal clear.

They said they will. Have 6 more on standby just in case lol

Sump, filter socks, pond matrix. Herbie drains. I just did my first sump, it's not hard. It's cheaper. I couldn't imagine trying to filter a tank like that with canisters. A 2262 is $500, you'd need at LEAST two on that tank.

You can glue PVC. You can probably operate a cheap table saw without cutting your hand off. That's about the skill set required to plumb a sump. A few days/weeks to figure out getting a Herbie to run silent.

Just get a simple sump running, then add all tbe fancy stuff later if you want--K1, FBS, reactor, ATO/drip, etc.

Awesome pickup. PM me if you have questions. I can help you with a BASIC sump for that size tank. What size and how many holes drilled for drains/returns. What kind of overflow boxes?

I envy you. For me it`s only a dream and realistically that`s probably all it will ever be. Still I am very happy for you or anyone that can pull it off.

I just hope you put the right fish in it! lol
