This big male cintrinellum & friends live in my son's grandfather's retirement community.

He doesn't have to defend his territory among any of his tankmates so all is well they've lived together for over 5 years.

It is a pair of dempseys there are no convicts. The goldfish aren't really messed up he only chases from time to time but he hasn;t during my observations bit them. We all know if he wanted he would kill everything in there. The fact is he doesn't feel threatened so has no need for violence. the flaring of the gills & other agression issues that cichlids display is usually a fear response. The same principle of having dithers. from my understanding they had a few cichlids & the goldfish were intened to be food while the cichlids were small but as they grew up he eliminated the real competition & the goldfish grew to be big to be food so are now companions.
