hey, is it possible to have your aqaurium hang out from the stand a few inches, or would it break, it would be a 150g (48 x 24 x 30)

I personally wouldn't want to try... If in the situation that you need to have a smaller stand than the bottom of the tank i would prob cut a piece of 3/4 plywood the size of the tank bottom and rest the tank on that... it would ensure that the weight isnt going to crack the bottom IMO

I'm actually doing that with a 60g acrylic. It hangs about 3" over the base of the stand. Been that way for years with no problems. I'd never ever do this with a glass tank, though. Really, it's a terrible idea for any tank. Proceed at your own risk.

ya, my dad is makin it and im trying to convince him that it has to sit on something

tell your dad water weighs 8.4pounds per gallon plus the tank, gravel etc.. theres going to be about 1500lbs. on the stand, so theres going to be ALOT of weight on that edge of the tank.

well i convinced my dad enough to put something there, we were thinking a peice of angle iron that runs along the length of the stand for the cantileaver part, the stand is being made out of 2" (1/8" thick wall) square tubing so attaching a peice of angle iron wouldnt be a prob

ill post pics on a new thread when i get my tank so i can start my inwall project wit sump/w/d
