Just curious to know if Tiger Rays are that much harder to keep than say a Motoro? I haven't seen anyone captive breeding them over here. Was curious if it's just hard to find a pair or if they are hard to keep? What is the reason they are not being captive bred?
Shedd has a breeding pair. There was a big article written up about their tiger pups awhile back. Very few places/people have adult male/female pairs with enough room.
So........ What would you guys say is "enough" room? 450 gallons? LOL Ok seriously......is 1.5K enough room? And lastly would they have to be in a species enviroment? I'm probobly asking a bunch of unanswerable questions but hey, how do you know if you don't ask?
they get huge over 30" disk... so if i had to put a guestimate on ideal set up for life would be 10'x6' they will out grow 8x4.... think real big with these guys... i had my old one with motoro but the motoro was 3" smaller to give the tiger a chance... i didnt want the ray stressed or out competed for food....
Where did 8 by 4 come from? I wouldn't consider that big enough for Motoros for life..let alone a Tiger. 8 by 8 is what I have now for the Motos.... If I was even gonna try Tigers I'de go BIG. SO....safe bet that if an attempt is gonna be made it should be a species only attempt?
Normally something in the 450g range is 8x4ish in size.. The answer to the last question I don't know.. Might try looking at Franks site, or getting input from Zoodiver on how Shedd's are set up. PM tyson? But there's probably a reason mike has seperate breeding tanks for all of his rays.
