captive micros are ugly?

why does it seem like all the gorgeous patterned and colorful micros live in the wild?

i've always wondered why they dont have defined patterns like the ones in the wild or the distinct green on their back, any reasons? or maybe im just crazy lol.:nilly::nilly:
 
may be if you held your micro out of water in full daylight, it might look more like that (not advised) the colors of my micro change before my eyes. Lightens up when it gets excited, darkens when it gets scared. photos of these micros are wild and full adults, which prob has a lot to do with it. Tank lighting/colors may have something to do with it as well. I'm also trying different things to get my guy to look more like those.
 
How about the water condition from diff basin?
Anyone can compare variety of micro? These fish from southern Thailand (Surat Thanee).
 
I agree, they have more defined color when in certain mood!
