A pair of Caquetaia kraussi have just finished putting down a huge spawn of what looks to be close to 2000 eggs... and this, from a 6" female!! As prolific as this species is, only an estimated 1% (~20 fish) will make it to adulthood in nature. This species is native to the Atrato and Magdalena river basins in Columbia, and the Maracaibo system in Venezuela, but apparently it's range has been spreading rapidly eastward.
